Lemonade stand

Lemonade anyone? Yellow cookies with sprinkles, yellow and pink balloons, citrus dresses, all all-girl-sweetness! It was very fun time spending morning with these girls. I’ll post more soon, just a quick sneak peak for their mom.

Thanks for all the help, D!

Baby in pink

Little miss “H” was one of our Cutest Baby Contest winners so I already had a chance to be smittened with her adorable face and cute personality. Oh the faces she makes! You can get lost in those dark brown eyes. She was shy and cautious at first but when she got the ball, she cracked up with the widest smiles ever.  She’s a very fun girl!

Her mommy wanted soft, sweet images of her sweet little girl. I love the pink tutus and the cream blanket they brought it. She reminds me of a little butterfly here.

I heart baby divas. OK she’s not really a diva but look at that face she was giving daddy to indicate she was NOT happy at the moment. And then the sweet angelic smiles as soon as she got the ball back.

While I’m away

I’m out of town until late Friday with only sporadic access to email/voice mail. No worries for current clients, orders are being shipped out this week by little elves working over here. OK, no elf, but they are being worked on and will go out on time.

While I’m away, I wanted to post a few more cute portraits from our our recent fundraiser mini-session because they caught my eye again when we were sending them out.  Can you believe these eyes, lashes and this smile?

Mom’s Finds Monday

Today’s “Mom’s Finds” are all about children safety.

1. Lectra Lock – Child Proof Outlet Covers

Genius wall plate cover that allows you to keep your electronics plugged in while keeping little hands off. Clear cover. Requires no tools for an adult to remove the cover in case of an emergency. Come in different sizes.  Their story.

2. Custom made gates by a local Madison company Gatekeepers.

From stair gates, swing gates, fireplace gates, deck gates, they make gorgeous custom made wooden gates that fit your home decor AND keep your little ones safe from tumbling. The gate won’t be an eye sore but rather it will become a part of your home décor. With 30 different stain colors, their gates complement any type of décor.

3.  Safe and Secure Baby   www.safeandsecurebaby.com

I could start posting links to safety gadgets from their website or I can just link you directly to their website for a plethora of baby related products (and more). I will just highlight a few useful items there such as the A-MAZE-ING Picture Hook, Panda Finger Pinch Guard, & emergency escape leather.

Keep them safe!

A shout out to Fathers, Dads, Daddies, Dadas, Papas…

Happy Father’s Day!

Since becoming a mom, I’ve gotten a whole new appreciation for fathers. I’m learning all about the wonder of fatherhood again. The role of a dad in my little girl’s life. How much she looks up to her daddy. How much she loves and learns from him.

Every day I witness the influence of a great father. I observe the eager ears of a 4-year-old listening to the big daddy figure who towers over her. I see how her eyes light up when “her daddy” walks into the room. And when she runs full force into his arms when he picks her up from preschool.

Every day I get to witness little fatherhood miracles. Like…

The friendship of  a dad who takes time to explain things (for example about caterpillars) while looking into her eyes with full attention.

The patience it takes to teach her how to tie her shoes, step by step, over and over again, speaking gently in a helpful voice.

The pride when she makes her first chess move after a chess lesson with dad.

The imagination she develops when they play or draw or sculpt together.

And many, may more, every day, wondrous moments.

(Fall images from our family trip to Baraboo)

We celebrated by watching the #1 movie pick for both the daddy and daughter, Toy Story 3. Despite my skeptical approach (sequels and threequels are rarely any good), the movie was fun.. I heard lots of laughs across all ages.

Weddings in Madison, Wisconsin

It’s not often that I take on photographing a wedding… When I have, it was because I’ve known the families involved. This is no exception. The wedding was a mix of many dear clients and grandmas-admirers. Both flower girls (or ring-bearer girls) are frequently seen faces around this blog. So I felt among friends. On top of that, the bride and groom are such genuine and nice people, they made me feel very welcome. So without further ado, let me introduce you the newlyweds. All my best wishes to the both of you! Thank you for making me a part of your important day.

Rainbow

Did any of you catch a double rainbow last Friday? We had no rain yet but lots of mist in the air. On my morning walk with the puppy, right above our roof I saw a double rainbow. It was perfect, fully formed from left to right. It’s rare that I see a rainbow without any rain. All I had on me was my iPhone and it captured only a glimpse of it.

Pregnancy portraits in Madison

There is something so beautiful about a pregnant woman that inspires me to capture the beauty through my camera & lens. Sometimes it’s challenging for the expectant woman to realize her own beauty.  I strive to help women see the pregnancy glow beauty through the images I capture. It shines through. I know it’s definitely shining through these.

One more, a bit more funky-color and artistic.

Thanks for being such great models! See you when your little girl is born. All the best.

$1300 raised for Operation Smile at the Oompa Middleton store mini-sessions

We’re very happy to announce that the original fundraiser goal was blown away and the total sum collected for Operation Smile from Oompa Toys Middleton store mini-sessions was $1,300!

This sum translates into 5 life-changing surgeries for children. From Operation Smile website:

Not only is cleft palate/lip an aesthetic issue, but a health issue, as well. Children born with a cleft palate are at a greater risk for ear and mouth infections, and usually have extreme difficulties eating and speaking. Repairing a cleft palate can take as little as 45 minutes, and can cost no more that $240.

Big thank you to Elizabeth (Store Manager) and Ian from Oompa Toys Middleton Store for organizing this fantastic event with so much passion and planning that it exceeded everyone’s expectations.

More good news….

We’d love to make it 6 operations total. Will you help us help one more child in need?
We are only $140 short from covering the 6th surgery.
