Is it still July? Ok, good. I’ve been meaning to post this.

BRAVA magazine had a special arts issue in July 2010 and we had the honor to have our work featured on page 24 in the “Home is where your art is“. The article gives advice on decorating your home with photographic art. The examples on this page are all by Funky Monkey Photography. The top 2 pieces are Canvas Art Wraps, middle is a framed Story Board, and lowest 2 are our new Float Wraps.

We’re been so inspired by this article we have created brand new Wall Gallery arrangements that our clients can pick from, or we can custom create one for each home. Wall Gallery is a creatively arranged set of images, either to be hung on the wall or displayed on shelves.

That’s what I remember about baby G the most. He was such a joy to photograph. His favored games included peek-a-boo and patty-cake. He was so cute in his overalls!

Internet shopping can be like window shopping, a quite fulfilling experience. As long as you know not to hit “buy” impulsively. That last part I have to work on. I still really enjoy browsing and finding cool stuff especially for this new post in the “Mom’s Finds“ article series.

Minus the occasional heat wave, I really enjoy the beautiful summers in Wisconsin. This time of the year offers so many more fun activities especially for children. Swimming, playground, sports and more. But the mosquitoes? They’re everywhere. Being a practical mom I am, the first item I found is an all-natural bug repellent for babies and kids.

Big news from Funky Monkey Photography! We will be moving our studios on August 1st, 2010, to a new location in Madison. I will post more information and images soon. It’s a beautiful space with gorgeous wooden floor, lots of character and unique decor.

“Not my child” Monday

A conversation in our house last weekend may or may not have gone like this:

4-year-old: “Mommy, is pineapple coming today? Do we have to go downstairs again?”

Me: “Oh, do you mean a TORNADO?”

4-year-old: “Yes! A TOMATO! Is tomato coming today again, mommy?”

My daughter is always an angel;) She always behaves so well she’d NEVER contemplate to skateboard down the slide while mommy was making lunch. I saw her sitting on top of the slide inside the wooden house. My neighbors later told me she contemplated riding down her new pink skateboard but decided against it at the last minute.

She may or may NOT painted all three of her dolls totally green. Head to toes. Entire can of spray chalk paint gone. They looked like She-Hulks.

She’s NOT an actress at all…

Evolution of a smile

Sometimes at our sessions, we experience some shyness and caution from our little friends. We strive to reflect each child’s unique personality so we never expect all-smiles all the time. However, we know a parent’s heart skips a beat when they see their little ones grinning a happy, natural smile. Sometimes moms say “Oh little Eva smiles all the time, too bad she didn’t smile so much at our session.” Maybe baby Eva was teething. Maybe little Johny had one of his 2-year-old melt downs and his little sister was cautiously serious.

To all parents before a session with Funky Monkey Photography:

Relax and let the day unfold. We love to capture each of your child’s unique expressions and we’re pretty sure you’ll love each of them too. We may even steal a few glimpses of that precious authentic smile.

I wanted to post a quick update that I’m back from traveling and will be returning emails/phone calls as soon as possible. My travels were last minute and lasted unexpectedly longer so we’re running behind.

Model call for 7-9 month old babies | Madison, Wisconsin

A local modeling agency, the Rock Agency, is searching for 7-9 month old babies.

Specifically: Female 7-9 months, Caucasian or Light Skinned Hispanic, darker hair with brown eyes.

More info from the Rock Agency:

“Submit happy and well-behaved babies with nice looking skin. We need photos submitted ASAP.

Please submit CURRENT photos via e-mail to borka@therockagency.com.
DO NOT CALL. We do not have any additional information at this time. ”

If the client likes the photos that are submitted, the baby and parent will be asked to go to Chicago for an audition. The audition will take place on Wednesday 7/14/10. And then If the client chooses the baby form that audition, the actual booking will take place in Chicago on Tuesday 7/27/10. SO baby and guardian need to be available all day for the audition AND the booking dates.”
