Greetings from vacation in Poland

Fall in Poland

Greetings! I’m in Poland with my daughter, visiting relatives and having some fun with friends. The weather has been very wet, rainy and cloudy but that hasn’t stopped us from visiting lots of people and places. The healthy and hardy mountain weather in Zakopana, Poland, has treated us well and even cured my daughter’s cold. Too bad it was too foggy when we got to the top of the mountain Gubałówka via an enclosed cabin lift, all we could see is a large white cloud instead of a breathtaking mountain peaks view we should have seen. I know because I’ve been to this beautiful place a few times before. I spent my childhood in Poland and have been back a few times, the country has changed so much since then.

I see a lot more Western influences mixed with our country’s culture. Sometimes in amuzing ways, such as “Góral Burger” (Hillbilly Burger) joint we ran into on the main street (called “Krópówki”) in Zakopane. A few years ago burgers were only at brand new fast food places that popped up in big cities such as McDonald or Burger King. It’s a funny combination of words, one traditional Polish and western food.

We are off to Warsaw today and will be flying back Friday. For those who emailed or called, we’re sorry for the delay, the wi-fi hasn’t been as accessible as I hoped for, due to the constant constant rain we were forced to rely on cars to get to some places. I will get back to everyone this weekend.

Hope everyone in US is enjoyng the beautiful sunny days!
